Top Picks And Trends From The SAG Awards 2011

Mila Kunis in Alexander McQueen - color = amazing!
Heather Morris in Romona Keveza - so Grace Kelly!

Hailee Steinfeld in Prada - adorable on her and perfectly age appropriate.

Runners Up?

January Jones in Carolina Herrera - the woman can do no wrong!  Stuhhhning!

Anette Benning in Martin Katz - This dress was so perfect for her figure and age appropriate.  She looked so glam...did you see the back?

Claire Danes in Louis Vuitton - I thought this shape was soooo much better for her vs. the Calvin Klein number she wore to the GG's.  However, I thought the belt was awkward since it hung so long...however, loved the lip color with the dress color.

Jennifer Lawrence in Oscar De La Renta - I LOVED this color and shape, I would have lost the black belt though.

Hillary Swank in Versace - I thought she looked so glowy and her hair was gorgeous!

Top Trends to note:

- Belt it!
- The Brighter the better
- Flowy, chiffon
- Applique details
- Nude

Happy Friday!

I'm so happy the weekend is finally here!  I plan to spend it with a stack of magazines and coffee sitting next to my husband on the couch.  Sounds divine.  I also need to start planning my outfits for NY next week.  I always feel the need to look extra chic when in the big apple!  Stay tuned for a post about this next week.  What are your plans for the weekend?

PS - Check out my Kelly Wearstler inspired post over at Camille Styles today!  In love with this color combo.

From Runway to Reality

After I blogged about this top a couple weeks ago, I decided I would begin a quest to search for something similar that didn't cost $1,275.00!  I tried Forever21 first, but totally struck out.  Then I stopped in H&M last weekend and found it!  If you haven't checked out their spring collection yet, run fast!  It is gorgeous and totally Stella McCartney inspired from the pastel palette to the feminine silhouettes.  I know the top I found is not EXACTLY like the one above, but its inspired by it and looks likes as if it came from the same collection -  it's also just so darn pretty!

{Love the scalloped detail}

{Top-H&M, Pants-Anthropologie, Shoes-Aldo, Watch-Hugo Boss (I added a J.Crew grosgrain band to it), Pyramid bracelet-Madewell, Pink Resin bracelet-Old Navy, Bag-Urban Outfitters, Lipstick-MAC}

A Few Things

Just a few pretty images I shot this week...

Photo 1: My fav pair of boots I bought in Argentina and a little faux fur vest I have been wearing with everything lately.
Photo 2: A gorgeous box covered with marbleized paper that my sister made (Neapolitan Home) and this rock pendant that I snagged at Forever 21.
Photo 3:  An ikat silk scarf I purchased last week at Club Monaco and a cool tribal/futuristic inspired necklace found at H&M - the best part?  It was $12!!

An Empire State Of Mind

{images c/o - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 }

Hello friends! This week the countdown begins for a little getaway my sis Laura (of Neapolitan Paper and Home) and I are taking to The Big Apple at the beginning of February.  Can you believe that she and I have NEVER gone anywhere just the two of us?  Its kind of unheard of considering we are best friends, sisters, and interested in all the same things...  This trip will obviously be fun filled, but we plan to do a bit of work as well.  It also marks the beginning of a soon-to-be collaboration that I can promise will be amazing!  We plan to taste the local food, shop the latest boutiques and of course entertain a bit of the night life.  I want to come back inspired and full of new ideas.  With that said - I need YOUR help!  We have a good list of places we want to visit while in town, but I would love some more suggestions of restaurants, shops, bars etc.

So far on our list:

The Standard Hotel - We'll be staying here for the long weekend.  Super excited.  Heard its fab!
Westville - Ok, so I admit that I have already been to this place, but their brunch is too good to skip.  Must go back!
The Guggenheim - I can't believe I have never been here!  Hope we can fit it in.
Chelsea Markets - I have heard amazing things about this place.  People always find the greatest treasures here for a small penny.
Eataly - Shop, eat and learn at this Mario Batali food concept.  Very intrigued.
Bobo - Have heard great things about this restaurant.  Cant wait to taste it for myself!

Stay tuned for a full NYC report when I return!

Couch Potato

I am thrilled to announce that JP and I have been approved to rent our (his) condo!  Ever since we said our "I Do's" last year, we have been dying to get ourselves out of the condo we currently reside in and into a new little (larger) love nest for two.  Also, since JP has had his condo for almost six years now, you can imagine how "boy" it looks - very bachelor padish!  Not his fault - at the time he bought it, that was just his stage in life.

Anyway, I am very eager to begin my 2011 decorating extravaganza!  We looked at a house last weekend that we loved, and plan to see four more this weekend.  I look forward to sharing with you the progress of the process, but promise that this will not become an all home decor blog.  I pledge to stay true to my inner fashionista!

Of course once we do find the right place, we can't go crazy and purchase everything in sight.  So,  we agreed that the first thing we will buy is a sofa.  What do you think of the ones above?  I am not super sofa savvy, so any suggestions are welcome!  I want it to be stylish with modern lines, but most of all I want it to be comfortable.  We spend a lot of time on the couch reading, cuddling and for me - blogging!

Here are some other items that I hope to purchase in the next year.  I want our home to feel happy and bright.  I am using the below items as color inspiration.  How much do you love the painting?  It is by local Atlanta artist - Julie Jones.  Check out her website (here).

Have a very stylish weekend!

I'm obsessed with the incredible work of the three fashion illustrators you see pictured above.  Recently my sister and I have been scouring the web for inspiration to help with a possible project we have coming down the pipeline.  All I can say is - get excited!  It is going to be brilliant!

I am hoping to purchase a couple of these to display in my home - just gorgeous!

What I Want Now: Some Serious "Door Knockers"

Kate Bosworth is a woman who truly has her personal style nailed down.  Everytime I see a photo of her from an event or appearance, she is always consistently herself.  Not only is she always dressed really well, but she perpetually has the most gorgeous accessories decorating her ultra-feminine ensembles.  I've noticed that she has an impeccable collection of earrings in her treasury.  I think the fact that she keeps her looks simple and clean gives her the ability to pull off large, almost gaudy (in a good way) earrings.

{A few Pairs I am dying to call my own.  I would rock these with a high ballerina bun and clean natural makeup}

What She Wore

{Photos c/o}
Award season is here!  As much as I like guessing which movies/shows are going to win, my favorite part of the process is rating the dresses that come down the red carpet.  On my list for the best and worst dressed this year?

Best Dressed
1.  Anne Hathaway in Armani - I suppose we should be giving the cudos to Rachel Zoe, but she rocked it.
2.  Emma Stone in Calvin Klein - This color is so fresh and modern and the cut was perfect for her bod.
3.  January Jones in Versace - I loved it all!  The hair, makeup and that va voom!
4.  Olivia Wilde in Marchesa - Its simply impossible to strike out in Marchesa.
5.  Selena Gomez - Gorgeous Grecian goddess in unexpected red vs. white.

Worst Dressed
1.  Natalie Portman - The necklace did not work with the large glittery red rose detail.
2.  Angelina Jolie - So tired of this silhouette from her, give us something else!
3.  Michelle Williams - So sad, she usually always looks phenom!
4.  Jennifer Love Hewett - Just not working
5.  Claire Danes - LOVE the color, but the shape was just not accentuating her amazing figure.  Blah.

Agree or disagree?  Tell me your favs and disappointments of the evening.

Take Me Away....

A few weeks back I posted about JP and I possibly taking an Anniversary trip somewhere warm and scenic.  We thought long and hard and have now decided to take a getaway to Saint Martin!  I am giddy with excitement not only because I will be celebrating our one year anniversary, but also because I get to do a little shopping for some beachy things before I leave.  You may recognize the photos above.  These are photos of the lovely Viceroy in Anguilla.  No, we are not staying there, but it is just a short 20 minute boat ride from where we will be staying.  I hope to maybe stop there one day to sight see and have a little lunch or dinner.  However, the main reason I posted the above pics is because I was so drawn to the decor of the hotel, that I am using it as inspiration for my vacation wardrobe....Should make for some good blogging when I return :)

{Items I am hoping to snag before the trip!}

Favs From Lonny's January/February Issue

So modern and fresh!  Loving this artsy trend.

I did a similar post about this here.

I have to admit I am not typically a fan of Lilly P., but getting to see a glimpse from the inside of their workplace makes me intrigued.  I love this inspiration board featured above.  I bet it is so colorful in their office!  How fun?!

I mean...wouldn't you die if you had this space to archive all of your precious belongings?

What were your favorite features in this issue?

New Year, New Friends, New Inspiration

Hi friends!  Exciting news:  I have been asked to be a contributing blogger for Camille Styles!  I met Camille a couple months ago at Lavish! (an unconference for the lifestyle social net worker) and we had an instant connection.  Camille Styles (yes, Styles is her maiden name, how perfect?) plans and styles events.  She takes the guess work out of planning beautifully inspired parties for her lucky clients.  She also posts daily on her fabulous blog (just re-vamped) jotting her notes on anything that inspires her - food, travel, fashion, and more!  I will be stopping by her site twice a month to feature my new series titled, What shade is your Soiree?.  Can't wait to begin!  Stop by Camille's site today AND check out my first post on Friday.

What I Want Now: A Lesson In Geometry

Typically I gravitate towards things that are soft and girly, but I always need to remind myself how wonderfully throwing in something edgy or graphic on top of that can translate.  When you think "Spring trends", what comes to mind?  In a literal sense I think, pastels, chiffon, and florals.  Spring 2011 re-invents itself by touching on the usual staples of the season, but throws us a curve ball with unexpected bright pop colors, tribal influences and lots of black and white in fun geometric patterns that are so intricate they can make you go cross eyed (in a good way).  There is something so appealing about the composition of shapes.  I have a feeling my spring wardrobe will be full of patterns and prints vs. the usual solids I tend to go for.  I can't wait to scoop up some of these fun finds!

Friday Date Night

JP and I have a date night tonight - we are going to see The Tourist!  Has anyone seen it yet?  It looks so sexy!  Plus a good amount of the movie is filmed in Venice.  Judging by the previews, Angelina looks ravishing - cant wait to see her glamorous self and the gorgeous costume design!

Sometimes when we have date nights, whether it be going to catch a flick or having a romantic dinner, I like to step up my appearance a bit.  It almost makes it feel like we just started dating which can be exciting.

Anyway, here are a few romantic blouses I wish I had for our lil night out. They also have a "should be worn in Venice" feel.  Very appropriate for the evening due to the movie choice!  I will also be sporting something similar that I already own and some sultry red lips.

Feast your eyes on these ultra fem/sexy blouses from Erin Fetherston...yum.

 Have a very stylish weekend!

Discovered this website today via Oh Joy! and fell hard.  There are a few reasons why I am completely enamored with this site:

1.  The name, "Gretel".  So sweet and simple.  Reminds me of a favorite childhood story :)
2.  The logo font and background color = perfection.
3.  The amazing treasures sold here.  A few of my top picks below...

Thanks, Oh Joy! for introducing me to Abby Kellett of Gretel!

Cut It Out

Spring Trend Alert: Laser Cut Outs

While perusing the Stella McCartney website (per usual) I stumbled upon this incredibly stunning top.  I shrieked out loud with excitement, then realized that I probably would not be able to afford the $1,275 price 21 needs to knock this off pronto!  Later, I found some other lovely items that fall in line with this very feminine and delicate trend (below).  I'm in love!

Judge A Book

Last week I posted about my favorite Christmas gift from my Sorella {here}, but I couldn't resist throwing up a quick post about another cherished gift I received from my sorella (sister)-in-law, Kate.  I have been trying to collect coffee table books over the last year so that eventually I can fill a wall of shelves with beautiful reads.  Gucci by Gucci was the perfect addition to my growing collection.  Gracing the pages are iconic photos of Hollywood actresses from the 50's, 60's and 70's sporting Gucci, and the brand's most memorable ad campaigns from over the years.  Of course, this book wouldn't be complete without a little history about where it all began - Florence, Italy back in 1921 by Guccio Gucci - yes, you read that name right!

Thanks to my lovely sis-in-law for this amazing find!

Happy 2011!

 I CANNOT believe 2011 is already here!  Twenty-ten went by way to fast for me and I feel as though I didn't really accomplish as many things as I would have liked.  Here's to hoping 2011 will be the year I achieve all goals/resolutions I make at the beginning.  Topping my list this year?  Yes, it sounds cliche, but  - get in shape, take ballet lessons, eat less sugar (this one is going to be close to impossible), send more "just because" notes to people I love, take vitamins and procrastinate less.  We will see what happens...Tell me your resolutions for 2011.  I need more ideas.
