Crazy About Jonathan

My dreams have come true!  Today I got an invite to a very special event that is taking place at one of my favorite home goods stores in Atlanta, Pieces.  A chance to mix mingle with the most fashionable and chic people of Atlanta AND the chance to meet JONATHAN ADLER - yes please!!!! 

Jonathan Adler is easily one of my favorite home goods/interior designers.  His style is so fresh and modern, but always unique and unexpected.  It is the perfect eclectic mix of 60's retro with a Hollywood Regency vibe.  Adler's designs are always inspired by something he loves and never fail to have intense pops of luscious color.  I love his style so much that I chose to have my wedding reception at a the Parker Palm Springs - he designed the interiors of this amazing hotel.

Lace Love

As a follow up to my post yesterday about my new obsession with all things made in lace, I wanted to share with you my new blushy pink lace shorts that I found at H&M.  When I saw these on the rack I was a bit hesitant since they were probably something I wore back in the early 90's when I was in grade school, but that little girl inside of me said - go for it!  I felt so flirty and light all day!  What do you think??

Current Obsession: Nude Lace

Lately, I am having a hard time diverting my eyes from anything lace!  This fabric is not meant for only your undergarments anymore ladies!  It's time to wear it on the outside for all to see!  However, I feel that the best way to wear it is in blushy pinks, nudes and whites.  Also, it is best when paired with something opposite like sleek cargo pants, or a military style jacket.   The look is so glamorous and girly and I love the textural element of it.  I just bought a pair of blushy pink lace shorts over the weekend and can't wait to show them to you {look for an outfit post later this week featuring the shorts}.  They make me feel so...Ooh la la!!!

J.Crew Fall 2010 Collection Inspiration

I don't know if you have seen the Fall 2010 J. Crew collection preview video, but if you haven't - you must because it is pure visual yumminess!  So is the ad campaign for the collection {here}.  Jena Lyons, J.Crew's creative director (who I am slightly obsessed with because of her keen eye and impeccable taste) describes the collection as: "Edie Beale goes to summer camp".  Many of the pieces are very military inspired and textural while bordering on girl scout chic.  The colors are very nude and muted, but with pops of hot pink and green.  After watching this I was so inspired by the makeup and hair of the models, and Jena that I decided to create a summer look inspired by the video/collection of my own.  I loved Jena's hair style so I tried to create my own version of it below.  Also, in the video they mention the lipstick they used on some of the models.  It's called Funny Face by NARS.  I went out and picked it up yesterday and of course wore it today!  What do you think??

Celebrity Style Spotlight: Diane Kruger

Many of you may know Diane Kruger from movies like Inglorious Bastards and Wicker Park, but I know her best for her impeccable personal style and effortless beauty. I am always so impressed with celebs that are able to dress themselves without the help of a Hollywood stylist. Her looks are always perfectly put together and she usually throws in a piece or two that are unexpected which makes her looks so original. Some other well-known women that fall into this category are Rachel Bilson, Sienna Miller and Zooey Deschanel. I am constantly looking to these talented women for style tips! Stay tuned for spotlights on them in future posts!

Not only do I love what she is wearing in these photos, but how much do you love how her boy dresses? Looks like Pacey has definitely graduated from his Dawson's Creek days! They compliment each other so well. This makes me want to coordinate with JP more often! So cute!

Also, how much do you love that basket she tool to the Cannes Film Festival? Tre chic!

DIY Jewelry Project!

You will need a pair of scissors and a foot or so of venise lace trim that is symmetrical and has somewhat of a large repeat design. I purchase mine from Gail K fabrics in Atlanta. It is seriously the tiniest store, but has the most unique trims I have found in any fabric store. I fell in love with this mint green trim! Such a pretty color :)

Cut the shape you want for each earring so that each piece is symmetrical. Try to cut as close to the shape as possible so that it does not appear fuzzy.

You will need a pair of simple earring hooks. I took mine off of an old pair of earrings that I don't wear anymore, but you can get them at Micheals. Take the tiny loop at the end of the earring hook and pin it through the fabric. Then twist it in place until the shape dangles just right. Voila! You have a simple pair of statement earrings that are sure to get attention. No doubt people will ask you where you got them...There is nothing better than being able to respond with - I MADE THEM! This project only takes about 10-20 minutes! Enjoy!!

Sunday Funday!

Sundays have always been my favorite part of the weekend because usually it’s the day that I go get brunch at a new hotspot, go shop my favorite boutiques and just do “me” things. Yesterday morning Jon Paul and I decided that we would go hit up a fairly new bakery in Atlanta called Bakeshop. They have great menu full of yummy breakfast dishes, fresh lunch salads and quiches. They also have an array of fresh baked pastries and breads that are made daily. The space has a very “industrial farmhouse” feel complete with long butcher style tables for guests to dine and enjoy the free wi-fi.
When JP and I walked in we were greeted not only by the enticing smells, but also the incredibly friendly staff! I ordered the challah bread French toast with apple compote and JP ordered the fried egg sandwich with apple wood smoked bacon on ciabatta bread. Both were absolutely delicious and so was the vanilla latte that I had to wash down the sweet treat :). It was all FABULOUS!!

After breakfast I decided I would hit up my favorite antiques/home goods boutique, Providence Antiques. You can always count on finding special treasures here like vintage gold jewlery and pink rose quartz serving bowls. The store has such an eclectic mix of beautiful finds. Sigh...I am ready to decorate!!!
