A Very Fashionable Halloween

When I was a little girl I would change my outfit about ten times a day. I could never get enough of my (what I thought were) glamourous dress-up clothes.  I found it so fun to play the part in whatever fairy tale I was making up that day.  Guess what, not much has changed!  I still love playing dress-up but obviously don't have as much time these days to do it so when October 31st rolls around each year, I become that little girl all over again.  Last year I was Lady Gaga and it was pretty major.  This year I want to go as a famous fashion designer or style icon.  Here are a few I am contemplating...

Betsey Johnson

John Galliano

Karl Lagerfeld

Rachel Zoe

What are you going to be this year?

...A Few More Wishes

Hello once again, it's Sorellina's older sis, Laura. After Kristen posted her Christmas list, I had to laugh because I've also been keeping a running list of "wishes" for the past few months. (We're even longing for the same necklace - see #4). She and I thought it would be fun to peruse my list...

1) Loeffler Randall taupe rain boots 2) Modcloth hooded coat 3) Gold sequin beret (a bit of sparkle to peek out from under the hood!) 4) House of Harlow necklace 5) "very" letterpress notecards by Suitor 6) Jay-Z Decoded (my husband is the truer Jay-Z fan - but the cover of his book, which features an Andy Warhol image, is gorgeous!) 7) Wisteria bench (I actually want a pair of these and want to reupholster the seats in two complementary colors, as shown here) 8) Back issues of Lonny magazine - did you know you can order printed copies? I own one issue already and it's practically a book; totally worth the price.

All I Want For Christmas Is...

So I realize that it is not even Halloween yet, but I have Christmas on the brain.  Every year I get so excited for the joyous occasion a little prematurely by starting my Christmas list around September...yes its true.  Obviously I am not going to be gifted everything on my list, but a girl can dream right?  Also, so that I don't give you the impression I am completely greedy, I've also started a list of gifts for friends and family - just as exciting and fun!  There is nothing more satisfying than seeing the joy on someones face when they open the perfect gift on Christmas morning.  That's the spirit!

What's on your Christmas list this year?

Be Sparkly

Currently I can't seem to get enough of the sparkly little discs that I thought would forever haunt me with bad memories of ugly dance costumes as a kid.  Who would have thought they would have made such a big comeback!  The best way to wear sequins is one piece at a time and in subtle colors such as a blushy pinks or a light platinum gold.  So girly and flirty.  I love feeling shiny.

Paris Fashion Week Street Style

{The fashionable alternative to an umbrella}

I love seeing the latest collections during fashion week from New York, Milan, London, and Paris, but another huge thrill is finding photos of the street style documented during the week.  I get so inspired by these wildly creative fashionistas/tos.  I hope to someday go to Fashion week (I don't care what city) and capture fashion moments of my own.  For now though, I will admire the work of others.  Here are my favorite street shots taken by Tommy Ton of Jak and Jill Blog - http://jakandjil.com/blog/...

Q is for Quail

I adore these new fall pieces from the label Quail.  I am loving how they chose a punchy pink for the season - so different than the warm palette we are used to, but most of all I am obsessed with the silk grey bomber jacket (far right).  It reminds me of the fluffy, ivory jacket Carrie wore in the SATC movie to the hospital to see Charlotte's baby.  I tried to look up the jacket after the movie came out and read that it was actually made by the wardrobe department and was a vintage Givency jacket that they combined with a Member's Only motorcycle jacket.  So basically it is one of a kind.  I was super bummed, but this little number will surely fill the void and - it looks so couture!

My Italian Adventure: Part III

This blog is primarily fashion focused, but I have to admit that next to fashion my other burning passion is for food.  Yes, I am a "FOODIE".  As you can imagine for a foodie, traveling to Italy is a dream come true!  To me, there is not a better place on earth to sample the local flavors.  The pizza, pasta, pastries, espresso and of course wine and cheese.

Like a true food enthusiast would, I made sure to capture some of the delicious things we ate on the trip.  There were waaay too many photos to choose from, so I posted the ones I thought were the most visually appealing.  As I am posting these I am salivating remembering every delicious bite...

 {cheese ravioli with sage butter}
{Porcini mushrooms at the local market - beautiful color!}
{Italian doughnut}
{Pizza, pizza}
{fresh meringues}
{creamy cafe latte}
{Assorted Italian cookies - delish!}
{And of course...the famous gelato}

How hungry have I made you?

Desperately Want: A Bicycle

{I took this photo on the streets of Florence.  How chic is this woman?}

During my recent travels I found it so fascinating that so many people in Europe travel by bicycle.  What is even MORE fascinating to me is how people were dressed - not in your typical, casual “biking attire”. These style mavens were dressed to the nines – perfect outfit, hair, makeup and of course stilettos to boot!  Many had little dogs or this season’s latest designer bag popping out of the front basket.  So photo worthy if you ask me.   I caught a few stylish ladies on their bicycles, but the photo above was my fav.  Now I desperately want to purchase a cute little bike to cycle around town.  Here are a few I have my eye on…

{Fendi Abici Amanta Donna bike}
obviously too expensive for me, but how lovely?

My Italian Adventure: Part II

While touring the beautiful, medieval city of Siena we stumbled down a quiet street and at the the end of it discovered a large outdoor pavilion well stocked with old books, watches, jewelry and handbags!  As you can imagine, a huge rush of excitement came over me.  There is nothing that gets me more jazzed than vintage duds - especially when they are designer!  I took some photos to document the treasures we saw.  Note the vintage Chanel bag in the second photo.  I am almost positive it was REAL, but you never can tell with these things.  It was a dark muted navy, only slightly worn - probably from the late 70's or early 80's.  It was about 300 € - about 412 dollars US.  An AMAZING buy if you ask me considering a real new one is about $3,000!!  I left the market to go "think" about the purchase and when I went back to get it, it was GONE!!  Yes, that's right.  Oh well, I keep telling myself it was not meant to be...I did however purchase a vintage Gucci inspired necklace which I will post about soon.

{Lovely vintage Dior sunglasses}
{Vintage designer handbags galore!}
{Was in love with this rhinestone antique number}
{Sunglasses. ALL VINTAGE. amazing}
{Gorgeous statement necklaces}
