Color Crush

If you frequent this blog, you know I am a sucker for unique color combos.  This spring, many of my most beloved brands are presenting their new lines in beautiful blushy, nude pinks and bright coraly poppy colors.  I adore both shades separately, but together they create the perfect color marriage for the budding season to come.  Simply alluring, no?

G is for Gorgeous

I had an absolutely amazing Christmas!  Of course my favorite part of Christmas is always giving gifts to the ones I love, but I cannot lie and say that I don't enjoy getting fun things for me!  I received many pretty little items, but my favorite gift this year was given to me by my sister, Laura.  She gave me this beautiful vintage Gucci bracelet (pictured above).  I love the grey and white snakeskin AND the two little G's on the clasp.  Every time I look down I think of her and the new name I assumed this year, Giorgi :)

What did you get from Santa this year?

Reinventing Classic American Style

A couple of weeks ago JPG and I stopped in our favorite little lunch spot in Atlanta (Star Provisions) for a quick bite.  The line was ridiculously long so as my patient husband waited, I decided to go stop in a new boutique that had recently opened next door.  Wow, was I pleasantly surprised to find what I had!

Ann Mashburn's eponymous shop has a simple yet elegant name, with an intriguing story behind it. After a bit of research, I discovered that Ann, the once assistant fashion editor at Vogue, decided that their other store (Sid Mashburn), needed a female version.  Stylish men in Atlanta have been flocking to Sid Mashburn for years to snatch up quality tailored duds and the store has been very successful.  It was Ann's daughters FIVE daughters, yes that's right - FIVE! that pushed her to open the lovely boutique.

The store offers brands like, Pretty Ballerinas (which I have featured before here), classic striped tops and scarves from Saint James, a nice selection of fun coffee table books, and delicious nail hues from Butter London. Everything in the store has a very collective feel.  You can tell that Ann has an editors eye based on how the store is merchandised and she did such a great job of interpreting what is classic American style today for the modern woman.  I read that Ann is about personal style more than fashion itself. She was quoted here saying “It’s not about beauty; it’s about confidence and style. I want people to feel good about how they look, help them create their own style.” (Ann Mashburn)

Side note:  I found out that they can work with Pretty Ballerinas to produce custom styles!  Say you love a style they carry, but want it in a different color or fabrication - they can make it happen!  Just note that there is a three month lead time...its worth it to me!

If you live in Atlanta, or are planning a visit soon, you must go visit this little gem!

Louis Vuitton 2011 Cruise Collection

If you are a frequent reader of my blog, you know by now that I have a total love affair for all things that possess a 50's/60's vibe.  My bestie sent me a link to the new Louis Vuitton 2011 Cruise Collection  last week and I literally gasped out loud in delight.  I have never been a really big fan of LV in the past, but this collection falls in line with many designers that continually top my list.  It looks so Miu Miu or Moschino with the eclectic, artistic touch of Marni.  The collection is fab, but what else caught my eye was the art direction of the photos and the backdrop for the shoot - The Parker in Palm Springs!  The very location of my wedding reception last February!  The day before I saw these photos, JP and I were discussing when we were planning on making the trip back to our favorite little getaway in the desert.  I hope it comes sooner than later.  I'm desperate for a little vitamin D :)

Just Because

I have had this photo of Kate Bosworth saved for awhile in my "obsessed with this look" folder.  Doesn't she just look so angelic?  I love everything from her flowy silky skirt, to her golden no fuss locks.  Perfection.

P.S. - Does anyone know where I can purchase a skirt like this?

8 Perfect Party Dresses

Although I have no idea what we are doing on New Years eve this year, I have begun to search for the perfect frock for the occasion to be.  I always look for something festive, flirty and fun to ring in the new year!  I have pulled together what I think would be perfect for your fancy fete.  How much would you love to see all of these in one room at the same time?  Just so gorg!  My front runner: The pink ruffled number.  Which would you choose?

Wrap It Up Part III

As I said in a previous post {here}, when it comes to holiday gift wrapping, I love using colors that are not so typical Christmas colors like your usual red and green.  When the new issue of Rue came out a few weeks ago, I wrote about {here} how I was truly inspired by the photo shoot with The Girls With Glasses.  I went out and bought fun fabrics, ribbons, and mini glass ornaments to complete my project.  I really like how the packages turned out...what do you think?

Black Swan

I am dying to see the new so called "psychological thriller", Black Swan!  I haven't seen a movie about ballet since the cheesy teeny movie, Center Stage!  Remember that one??!!  The story line sounds interesting, but mostly I am looking forward to the visual aspects of the film.  Think lustrous feathers, pink satin, lovely figures, and of course-the dancing!  Have you seen it yet?

Wrap It Up Part II

If you read my post from last week about searching for holiday gift wrapping inspiration, you will understand the above photos.  I took these tonight after a visit to my favorite fabric store to purchase ribbons, fabric and other pretty findings to prepare for my holiday gift wrapping.  I was so pleased with everything I purchased that I wanted to share a little teaser before featuring the final product.  I love how retro the colors and textures are!

How do you plan to wrap your gifts this year?

Just Because

I love this photo of the budding fashion designer, Katie Ermilio, on the cover of the new issue of Rue Magazine.  I adore her simple outfit accessorized with multiple bracelets, cute nerdy glasses and those unexpected blue oxfords (not my typical style).  See her feature here to view her chic NYC pad.  It is the perfect mix of soft-girly and vintage.  Honestly, I didn't know of her until reading Rue, but after reaserching her more, one thing is for certain - she seems to have a true clear vision of what women want to wear.  I can't wait to see what she comes up with next!
