The Oscars: Best Dressed

{photos c/o popsugar.com}

 Although I thought the writing last night was terrible, at least the fashion was spectacular!  Here are my top picks for best dressed:

Gweneth Paltrow in Calvin Klein - So fresh and modern. Her accessories were also to die.  She can do no wrong in my book.

Hailee Steinfeld in Marchesa - As I always say, I don't think anyone can ever go wrong in Marchesa.  She looked like a little Audrey Hepburn.  I think this little thing is going to be the next best style icon of this generation.  She helped design the dress and I think she nailed it!

Cate Blanchett in Givency - There were many people who critiqued this pick in a very negative way.  I think it is a true work of art.  It looks like the future.  I also love the pops of neon mixed with - once again - a lovely lilac color.  Amazing!

The color of the night?  LILAC...all different shades and tones.  This just validates my undying wish to paint our bedroom a light shade of purple even more!  Done and done.

And...Its Back To Reality...

{Taking it all in from our balcony at Hotel L'Esplanade}

Hi friends! It's back to reality after an AMAZING trip to the French West Indies.  We indulged in plenty of sun bathing, eating delicious local fare, and shopping.  Needless to say, it was very hard to come back, but I could not neglect my readers any longer!  Glad to be back - I have some fun posts planned for next week!  Until then, a few photos to show you from the trip...

Wardrobe styling obsession :: Totokaelo

While Kristen enjoys a little spring break, I'll share what's on my mind lately! - Laura

Whenever I'm lacking sartorial ideas, I click over to Seattle-based boutique Totokaelo. This site reads like the online closet of my dreams, with extensive imagery that acts as a styling tutorial. The accompanying images for each item convey how to wear it several different ways. Some of my favorite lines (which happen to be relatively affordable!) include these very spring-like Lauren Manoogian painted leather bangles, and graphic print tops by UZI. A sampling of my wish list appears below.

Every piece seems to work together, and each item feels special, elegant, slightly edgy, and well-made. But my favorite feature of the site is the Shop by Look section - a treasure trove of inspiration. With a designer lineup that includes Chloe, Maison Martin Margiela, A.P.C., Rachel Comey, and Mociun, Totokaelo makes it easy to imagine a versatile wardrobe consisting of just a few well-curated, quality pieces.

You + Me

{photosgraphy c/o Justine Ungaro}
Its officially (almost) one year ago that I JP and I walked down the aisle and said "I do".  I know its cliche, but it seriously feels like it was yesterday.  It's actually quite scary how fast time goes by these days!  Anyway, we are headed to St Martin for the weekend to celebrate the big one year!  The official date is the 20th (Sunday).  I recently got the discs of our wedding photos from our photographer and wanted to post a few of my favorites to commemorate the occasion...

A little peak inside my suitcase!  Spent a large portion of last night packing...Stay tuned for St. Martin pics when I return!

Have a very stylish weekend!!

Oh, Olivia!

I'm in love with this look Olivia Palermo wore for the Spring 2011 Tibi ad campaign.  So girly and angelic.  Immediately after seeing this, I started to search for pieces I could snag to re-create the look...check it out!

PS - I heard Miss Olivia is coming out with her own clothing line.  Would you wear it?

Put Some Spring In Your Step!

 There are sooooo many cute shoes out there for spring this year, I can barely stand it!  The best part?  If you don't necessarily feel "bikini ready" or you feel like the winter months have increased your dress size one or two numbers, the best solution is to buy shoes!  Shoes never make you feel fat - only better!  I have searched and searched the net for what I believe are the best shoes for the season.  Also, they are mostly all very affordable - bonus!!

A Few Things

Hope you all had a fab weekend!  The weather here in Atlanta was amazing and left me longing for the warm temps to stick.  I went shopping for my trip this weekend and picked up a pair of bright shorts (here), some gorgeous wedges (here) and a floppy hat to protect my very pale face from the hot Caribbean sun this weekend (here).

Above you will see one of my favorite looks from NYFW's fall collections (Rebecca Minkoff).  I LOVE this look.  The juxtaposition of the leather jacket and boots with the soft feminine flowy dress is ultra romantic but with an edge.  HOT!

While shopping this weekend for things I needed, I also stumbled upon a few things that I am dying to own (that I don't necessarily need)...

1.  Neck Candy:  This interesting necklace is from BCBG.  I think it looks so expensive and well made (only $108!!).  It would be so great worn with a simple maxi dress or a flowy silky top.

2.  The IT shoe:  I tried on this shoe at Zara over the weekend.  The color blocking is super fun and they totally remind me of the shoes Gwyneth wore last night for her performance with Cee-lo!  G's were Louboutins, however...FIERCE.

3.  The IT bag:  This bag is so adorable!  I love its classic shape and bright modern color.  Must have for spring!!

Random:  Some artwork I did over the weekend...sneak peak for an upcoming project :)

Life's a Beach

{image found on Pinterest by way of Peonies and Polaroids}
Getting SUPER excited for my up coming anniversary trip!  One week from tomorrow JP and I will be laying on the beach sipping fruity drinks and soaking up the rays (with sunscreen on, of course) - pure bliss!

I plan to spend a portion of the weekend searching for a swim suit...any suggestions?

Also, wanted to share a few fun links from the week:

1.  Kelly Wearstler is coming out with a clothing and Jewelry line - O.M.G!!
2.  Check out my guest post today on Camille Styles where I used Marni 2011 Resort Collection for color inspiration for a soiree.
3.  Anthropologie's wedding line {BHLDN} launches Monday!  Check out the sneak peak from here and here.  Looks absolutely gorgeous!

NY Trip Recap

{The view from outside our window at the Standard Hotel.}

My sis and I had a fantastic time in New York last week!  It was so nice to spend quality time with her, eat delicious food, shop until we dropped, and discover new places.  I am already planning a trip back...hopefully when its a bit warmer :)

When we arrived at our hotel the first order of business was to choose our outfits for the week.  We dumped out our suitcases so we could see what we were working with.  Pretty colors and textures...

Pretty little cafe on Bond Street - Smile Cafe.  New fav spot.

My beautiful sis.

This is my favorite thing about New York.  You turn a corner and see the most unique and amazing things.  Laura and I were in awe of this gold sculpture outside someone's apapartment.  It almost looks as though its always been there.  Can you imagine if this was right outside your window??

Mid-day snacks.  What's better than fresh baked cookies and a glass of farm fresh milk at Ronnybrook Milk Bar located in the Chelsea Markets?

Delicious chocolates in beautiful papers made by Mast Brothers out of Brooklyn.  I fell in love with the black truffle and sea salt.  Such a unique flavor.

Ta ta for now, NY!  See ya soon...

Be My Valentine?

{Image found on Pinterest}
Valentine's day is just around the corner...I'm sure we will most likely have a quiet dinner at home and watch a movie.  After all, our anniversary is just six short days later (the 20th!) and we will be headed to St. Martin to celebrate!  I'm a huge Valentine's Day junkie and would probably blame this on my love for all things chocolate, pink and pretty...

What are your plans for the lovely pink and red holiday?

Some pretty little things I wouldn't mind receiving on V-Day...

Lounge In Style

{Image found over at Oh Joy!}

{Image found over here}
As I noted in a previous post, JP and I have begun searching for our first home together.  We've viewed many, but there is one that remains at the top of my list.  Its really near perfect: Grey pickled wood floors, large open living.dining room, a large kitchen and the cutest little lounge/sitting room I have ever seen!  I've never really thought of making an extra bedroom a sitting lounge, but I love the idea of it!  Picture it: Ceiling to floor shelves filled with books and small antique findings, a super comfy couch and possible an elegant fainting sofa, a little bar stocked complete with favorite libations.  I would live in that room!  I'd also probably be able to justify purchasing more pretty loungy clothes as well :)  Whats your favorite room in your home to just lounge?
