Fancy Feet

Having trouble finding the perfect ensemble for a holiday soiree?  Look no more!  The best thing to do if you are stumped and on a tight budget is to wear classic pieces you already own and throw on a pair of fun and flirty heels to make the outfit special and festive.  All of these shoes would look great with a pair of skinny jeans and a tee or a little black dress.

Wrap it up!

As the holiday season draws near, all I can think about how I am going to wrap the gifts - that I have yet to purchase.  Of course finding the perfect present is important, but the way it is wrapped is just as critical.  Each year the competition is fierce since my sister always makes all of her packages look absolutely perfect!  This is not abnormal for her in all aspects of life...(I love her :).  Here are a few shots I plan to draw inspiration from for my wrapping frenzy.  I love the unexpected holiday colors like the deep emeralds, golden yellows, minty blues - (not your typical green and red) and the different textures and metallics.  Stay tuned for the final product!

Cotton Candy

When I received my December issue of Elle in the mail last week I was elated to discover the jaw-dropping photoshoot of Jessica Alba in the back of the mag.  I absolutely love the pinky cast in the color editing of the photos and her barbie-esque outfits and styling.  Her hair is so glam and really making me regret my recent decision to chop off all of mine. ugh.  I will be saving this lovely cotton candy palette in my spring 2011 inspiration folder.

Anniversary Getaway

When JP and I were deciding on a wedding date, we couldn't have calculated it better since around the end of February is about when the terrible winter blues set in and most people are ready for a warm get-away.  Our Anniversary date is February 20th so I am hoping (at least for the first few years of our marriage) we can take a little getaway each year at that time.  Of course, this anniversary is uber-special because it is the FIRST!  That being said, we want to go somewhere fun to celebrate our first year of wedded bliss (haha).  Of course for me, the hotel we stay at is just as, or maybe even more important than the destination. Here are three places/hotels we have in mind.  What is your vote?

{Parrot Cay in Turks and Caicos}
{The Tides South Beach - of course I am obsessed with this hotel due the the amazing interiors designed by the lovely Kelly Wearstler}

{The Parker in Palm Springs - the destination of our reception at our wedding, also the delicious interiors at this beauty were courtesy of the one and only - Jonathan Adler.}

Have a stylish weekend!

Lacking Inspiration

This week has been a bit gloomy and depressing so far due to the poor weather.  I have felt unusually uninspired this past week so I decided to do a mini photo shoot featuring some items that currently make me happy.  I am hoping to draw some inspiration from these images and hopefully get my groove back soon!

{Gucci inspired necklace found at a flea market in Siena, Italy}
{chunky, gold chain-link bracelet from J.Crew and some incense matches I found by the cash register at Whole Foods.  They are seriously awesome.}
{A horse shaped salt shaker found at Anthropologie and a pyramid bangle from Madewell}
{A business card holder found at a flea market in Siena, Italy}

What are you inspires you lately?

Pretty Ballerinas

I have been searching for the perfect pair of ballet flats for quite some time now.  While browsing the blog, The Cherry Blossom Girl, I came across these beauties.  The brand is called "Pretty Ballerinas" - how cute!  The sad part is - they are only sold in select places around the globe - the US not being one of them.  I guess JP and I will just have to plan a trip to Spain (where they are headquartered)

Have a Fabulous Weekend!!

Color Crush

My sister sent me a link today from the blog Wit + Delight featuring Marni's 2011 Resort collection and I almost fell on the floor.  The colors were so unique and unexpected.  After seeing that, I went to Style.com to look at Marni's Spring 2011 RTW collection and found another surprising palette.  How lovely. I can't wait to incorporate these colors in my winter-spring wardrobe.

PS - how neat is the cut-out jacket on the left?  I feel like this is taking us into the future of fashion.  I hope to see more of this cut-out technique from brands I can afford :)

Lips Poppin

A major beauty trend this season is a bare face (just concealer, light blush, a hint of bronzer) with dramatic red or dark plum lips and heavy mascara.  For Spring, the trend is similar, but with seriously bright pink and orange lips. I am totally digging this doll face look!

{photos c/o style.com}

I am obsessed with makeup and love experimenting with different colors and techniques.  Here are some beauty products that I currently use and swear by based on performance.  I highly recommend all of them!

1.  MAC blush in Dollymix - I just purchased this last weekend and am in love with the instant just pinched cheeks look it gives off.

2.  Benefit Stay Don't Stray concealer/primer - I have been searching for a good concealer for quite some time now.  This one is the perfect color for my skin tone.  It brightens up my face and also makes my eyeshadow and eyeliner stay put all day!

3.  Sephora concealer brush - this little tool is the key to making your concealer look flawless and even.

4.  Stila Illuminating tinted moisturizer - this moisturizer gives you an instant glow.  It seriously will make you look alive. Sometimes if I am in a hurry I will just apply this, two swipes of blush and it instantly makes you look alive.

5.  Deborah Lippmann nail polish in Nefertitti - wearing this on your pointers is like wearing jewelry.  It is truly an accessory.

6.  Dior Show mascara - best mascara on the market.  It will stretch your lashes for days.

7.  NARS lipstick in Heat Wave - gorgeous bright orangey/red hue.  So Sexy and best worn with minimal makeup.

8.  Stila eyeshadow in Kitten - I have been wearing this shade since high school.  It is a heavy shimmer and is the most perfect pinky nude shadow on the market - in my opinion :)

Black and Tan

Ever since these looks graced the Fall 2010 runway (courtesy of the fabulous Stella McCartney), I have been drawn to a black and tan color combo.  The look is sophisticated, classic, sleek and a modern update to black and white.  Here are a few pieces I hope to incorporate into my wardrobe this season:

A Very Tacky-Chic Weekend Getaway

A couple of weekends ago Jon Paul's parents invited us to join them at the Greenbrier in West Virginia for JP's Mom's birthday celebration.  I was really excited to get out of Atlanta and have a nice relaxing trip.  I had heard a bit about the hotel - it was supposedly a historic landmark and I knew Jessica Simpson went there once for their casino's grand opening (useless information, I know), but that was all I knew.  When we got there I was pleasantly surprised by the visually stimulating "Modern Baroque" style interiors that the hotel emulates.

Designed by Dorothy Draper who actually invented "Modern Baroque", this little beauty reflects splashes of punchy (almost obnoxious colors) and graphic wallpapers that remind you of the first house your parents had when you were little. The style can almost be considered tacky to some, but I loved it!  It would not be my personal style all together, but certain elements inspired me for future design projects.  Here were the best parts:

{I was obsessed with these large Moroccan looking light fixtures that lined a large hallway with tall French doors.}

{Beautiful Baroque detail on the stairs}

The indoor pool reminded me of the one inside Daddy Warbucks's mansion in the movie Annie.

{Check out the large bows over the windows! Too fun.}

{Wallpaper}

{This girly pink ballroom looked like something you would see in a palace in Europe}

{Fun Baroque style table}
