New Beginnings

Its official!  We moved into our new home last Sunday.  It's been a whirlwind two weeks, but finally we are all settled in.  Most of the boxes are unpacked and now we are busy making furniture decisions, choosing paint swatches and exploring rug options.  It's going to be a really fun project for the both of us this year.  I am excited to share the progression as we go.  For now, here's a sneak peek into our abode.

This is the room you walk into through the front door.  Lots of natural light and space - perfect for entertaining.  We aren't sure if we want to put a TV over the fireplace or a just gorgeous piece of art - I'm leaning more towards art!  I'm sure you can guess where my husband is leaning towards...

This room is in the front of the house (off to the side of the room above).  For now this will be a lil office, but eventually I want to decorate this space to be a room to have coffee in the morning, read and blog of course!

Cute, eh?

The Look For Less

So, I'm an avid Goop reader (Gwyneth Paltrow's blog).  I love GP's fresh take on fashion, food and an overall healthy lifestyle.  She did a post the other day where she put together outfits (with the help of Net-a-Porter) - all SUPER cute, but totally unobtainable (for some)!  Who can afford this stuff, really?  We get it GP, you're rich!  Sadly, not all of us can wear a head-to-toe designer ensemble.  One piece here and there, yes.  Since I liked these looks so much, I decided to help out other Goop devotees that want to dress like GP, but can't necessarily afford her picks - like me!

Gwyn's look would cost you $4,680!  My picks will cost you $617 - not necessarily cheap, but the higher priced items are what I like to call investment pieces.  You will wear them ALL the time and they go with just about anything!

Gwyn's look would cost you $1,244!  My picks will cost you $256.93!

Get Shorty

These days I have been all about comfort when it comes to getting dressed in the morning.  Sure, I want to be stylish, but I tend to feel the most confident about my ensemble when its super comfy.  Although Atlanta has been unseasonably cold the past couple days, I know that is going to change fast!  I need pieces that will keep me cool, but are versatile and feminine.  That's why I've invested in numerous pairs of silky, flowy shorts.  They look great on long (and short) legs like mine, with flats or heels.  They have the ability to be dressed up for a night out, or dressed down for a day at the beach.  The best part about shorts?  You can keep them out all year round and pair them with tights and boots during the cold weather months.  Definitely a smart buy!

Where do I buy??

Moving Day!

Happy Friday friends!  My moving day was yesterday and today - must say I am completely exhausted!  This is the first time I have ever really moved.  When I moved to Atlanta four years ago, all I had was my clothes and a few photo albums, so this was a much more intense experience.  I wish I could say that JP and I  looked as happy as the couple in the photo (from a 1997 J.Crew catalog) this week, but it was not as glamourous.  We did pack a lot of books though...

CANNOT wait to share photos of the new digs with ya'll.  It's going to be my first interior decorating project EVER!  Stay tuned...

Have a very stylish weekend!

Cannes Film Festival

I get super excited each year to see pics from the Cannes Film Festival.  It starts this week and the glitzy, glam photos have already started to emerge from my fav gossip websites. To kick off the festivities, Karl Lagerfeld hosted a dinner/fashion show the other night at the Hotel Du Cap Eden Roc in Antibes to show Chanel's 2012 Cruise Collection.  Sighhhh so jealy.  Anyway, Rachel B looked super chic at the event in leather shorts and a black blazer.  The premiere for the movie Midnight In Paris was this morning and Rachel McAdams looked stunning is a little ivory frock with flower details.  I'm also obsessed with her haircut!  I think I'll be paying my stylist a visit this weekend for those long bangs! Can't wait to see the rest of the week unfold and get inspired by the fabulous fashion!

I told my husband this morning that we are going to the south of France next year - he just kind of gave me a funny look...we shall see :)

What I Want Now: Cool Safari Basics

I've always been a fan of clothes that make you look like you're on vacation (even when you're clearly not).  Maybe not the whole ensemble, but a piece here and there to sort of "take you away" on any normal day.  Whats better than feeling like you are dressed for a day in Santorini or in today's case, on an African safari?  I love that clothes have the ability to make you a world traveler without ever leaving your home!  I'm loving the chic, effortless safari look.  Light breezy tops paired with blousy shorts, leather/canvas bags and playful animal prints.  All are perfect pieces to achieve that "staycation" look.

Cuff Me

This bracelet reminds me of these
Recently I've been searching for a few ways to spice up my wardrobe.  Naturally, there is never a better way to do so than with a few really special jewelry pieces.  While perusing Anthropologie's site the other day, I discovered a few amazing bracelets that I must find a way to make my own...

This one is only $28!

Wouldn't it be neat to buy two of these and wear one on both wrists?  Very Greek goddess like.
Have a very stylish weekend!

Casual Romance

{Left image via, right dress by Juicy Couture}
Recently I discovered the blog Atlantic-Pacific. It's a style blog that is mostly image-centric.  The woman behind the blog, Bee, shares her daily ensembles that are always oh so perfectly styled.  She is a layering genius!  Seriously, she's got it down.  Anyway, I came across the top left image the other day while perusing her blog and fell in love with that dress/look.  I love that mix of something romantic and flowy with something structured and serious like a long military jacket.  So perfect.  Where oh where can I find a dress like this?  Hers is by Foley and Corinna ($495).  A little steep for me right now.  Have you seen anything similar lately?

Uh oh, somebody needs glasses...

Truth is, I've been wanting glasses ever since I was like five and would go with my Mom to the eye doctor to "help her" pick out frames - I would try on every pair in the store!  I had my first eye appointment in probably ten years over the weekend and was sure they wouldn't find any problems.  Well, I was wrong!  At least now I can pick out some fancy frames!  I purchased a black pair (pics to come), but I really want to get a second kind of funky pair.  What do you think of these below??  Kind of like the Phillip Lim 3.1 pink frames...
